Buhle Samuels Early Life, Background and Education

Buhle Samuels was born on May 25, 1990 in Soweto, South Africa. Although not much is known about her family background, it is at least known that her mother is a nurse in Saudi Arabia, and that she has an elder sister named Mbali Samuels.


Buhle acquired primary education from a community school in Pretoria, her hometown, before going on to attend the South African University where she graduated with a degree in Somatology. 




Buhle Samuels Career

Buhle Samuels started her career in 2013 as a television host. She hosted the popular Breakfast Show on African Magic which aired on DStv channel 151. The following year, she appeared as Matshidiso Mofokeng on the popular soap opera “Muvhango,” which aired from 2014 to 2018. 


Buhle's role in “Muvhango” gave her rise to stardom and earned her widespread acclaim and recognition in the South African film industry. It also earned her a Royalty Soapie Awards nomination in 2015 for “Best Newcomer” which she eventually lost to Izak Davel who appeared on SABC3’S Isidingo as Bradley Haines. 


In 2019, she played the role of Zandile on “IMBEWU: The Seed,” a popular soap opera on e.tv which is about a business tycoon chasing his ambition to become the first black oil baron in South Africa. She also appeared on the popular Netflix series “Kings of Jo'burg.”


In 2024, Buhle Samuels appeared in “All's Fair In Love,” a film by Deyemi Okanlawon which also featured top Nigerian actors like Lateef Adedimeji, Timini Egbuson, Juliet Ibrahim, Venita Akpofure, Ireti Doyle, among others.

Buhle Samuels is presently married to Thando Sonqishe. The couple tied the knot in a private wedding in May 2022 and currently have a child together named Inana.
