Kimalie Hylton, popularly known as Malie Donn or Malie, was born in 2002, in Waterford, Saint Catherine, Jamaica. He grew up with his grandparents in a community known for violence and crime.
Malie Donn attained his primary education at Waterford Primary School before moving on to further his education at Bridgeport High School. During his time at Bridgeport High School, he took part in athletics tournaments like the Miami Classics and the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships.

Despite his love for athletics, specifically track and field, at an early age, Malie later developed a strong passion for music and decided to pursue it as a career with specialization in the dancehall/reggae genre.
While starting out as an artiste, Malie couldn't afford the money to pay for studio sessions and thus, had to save his lunch money to record songs. He also tried promoting himself by putting out his songs on social media.

They were however released after an investigating officer found out the young lady made a false report and was trying to extort Malie Donn.
